SERGIO BREVIARIO | Senza titolo (inconscio)

Fondazione Galleria Milano, 12 dec. 2024 - march 2025

Group exhibition curated by Elio Grazioli

The Galleria Milano Foundation presents Untitled (Unconscious), a group exhibition curated by Elio Grazioli.

“For years, it seems, we no longer hear artists talk about the unconscious, at least in public debate. Yet it seems such an important topic to be constantly taken into account now. Is there some issue that may be important and interesting to bring up? It is also one hundred years since the Surrealism Manifesto, why not question artists directly on the subject?” (Elio Grazioli)

Prolonging a research that Giulio Lacchini in particular has been carrying out for years, to which we owe the project and the paradoxical title Untitled (unconscious), Elio Grazioli asked fourteen artists of various expressions, generations and backgrounds to confront their work and thought with the problems of the unconscious, inviting them not only to produce an ad hoc visual intervention but also to write about it openly.

The artists are, in strict alphabetical order: Stefano Arienti, Dario Bellini, Boy Sue with Marilina Ciaco, Sergio Breviario, Gianluca Codeghini, Martina Corà, Giulio Lacchini, Claudia Losi, Eva Marisaldi/Enrico Serotti, Mara Palena, Luca Pancrazzi, Moira Ricci, Luca Scarabelli, Alessandra Spranzi.

The resulting book, published by Edizioni Obliquo, 160 pages in colour, features an “Introduction” by curator Elio Grazioli, an essay by philosopher Riccardo Panattoni and an ad hoc “Finale” again by Grazioli, who collaged significant phrases from the artists’ statements, assembling a sort of collective resultant.

The Fondazione Galleria Milano hosts a presentation of the publication with an exhibition of a selection of works by the artists.
